Hidden in the heart of London, Chelsea Physic Garden is a peaceful oasis and a centre for learning. It is home to a staggering collection of over 5,000 different medicinal, herbal, edible and useful plants.
In 1673, the Garden was founded by the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries of London to enable apprentices to study the medicinal qualities of plants. By the 18th century, it was one of the world’s most important centres of botany and plant exchange.
Highlights include Europe’s oldest rockery, the Garden of Medicinal Plants and the World Woodland Garden, as well as a beautiful collection of glasshouses containing exotic plants from around the world.
